1989 Started as machine tool divison of Samsung Heavy Industries, Ltd.
1990 Signed technical license agreement with OKK to manufacture CNC machining centers
1991 Signed technical license agreement with Mori Seiki to manufacture CNC turning centers
1992 Developed large horizonal machining centers
1996 Signed technical license agreement with Toshiba
1999 Spun out from Samsung Aerospace Co., Ltd and changed its name to SMEC Co., Ltd.
2000 Founded Changwon Factory
2001 Established R&D center in Changwon, Korea
2003 Developed robot components and robot assembly for LCD glass
2003 Developed special purpose turning centers to machine differential cases
2003 ISO 90000 certified from ASR
2004 Developed MCV-80 Vertical Machining Centers
2005 Developed 8th generation LCD link type robot (first time in the world) for Samsung Electronics
2005 Developed MCV55 Machining Centers
2006 Moved to new plant in Daesan-Myeon, Changwon City
2006 Developed MCV65 Machining Centers
2007 Developed SL20S/SY (sub spindle; Y-Axis) multi-tasking CNC turning centers
2008 Developed 11th generation LCD Robot
